About - Graduate Marine Engineering (GME)

    Marine engineers are alert and ready to tackle any emergency breakdowns. They work with experts to resolve the issue within a specific period.

  • Marine engineers are trained to care for the power plant. They clean oil, sludge, and tanks.

  • Marine engineers communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and stakeholders.

  • Marine engineers work well in maritime teams to ensure seamless ship operations and maintenance.

Graduate Marine Engineering Scope 

 Marine engineering is a One-year pre sea course that leads to becoming a 4th/5th Engineer on a ship. Marine engineers are responsible for the smooth running of the ship's engines and all the mechanical, . They report to the ship's Captain

After completing their degree, graduates marine engineering can work on all kinds of ships, including: Ferries, Cargo ships, Cruise liners, Military vessels.

Graduates marine engineering typically start as a trainee or junior engineer for a six-month working contract. They follow instructions from the Captain and Chief Engineer.

To become a ship's Captain, you need to gain working experience. Internship programs are a good way to get hands-on experience


Eligibility

    • Minimum marks of 50% in final year in following courses: (a) All full time B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and its streams, OR (b) Naval Architecture and its streams, OR (c) Any 5 year Integrated M.E/ M.Tech degree based on above qualifications.
    ENGLISH : Minimum 50% marks in English language at the 10th or 12th standard or in degree examination.
    AGE : 18-28 years.

  • Career Path

    After the completion of the course, the cadets will be issued with the CDC, INDoS No. and Course Completion. The cadets will join the Ship as a Fifth Engineer.


CAREER GROWTH AFTER PRE-SEA COURSE & TRAINING

STEP 1

6-9 Month trainee 4th engineer , Salary $300 to $1200 approx.

STEP 2

12-24th months as in 4th Engineer, Salary $2200 to $3150 approx.

STEP 3

18th months as in 3rd Engineer, Salary $2700 to $4500 approx.
